The Broke Agent's hectic schedule gets interrupted by a young student eager to pick the brain of realtors around town.
Interviewer: Excuse me. I am interviewing different agents around the area to do a study on how and why they got into the real estate industry. Do you mind if I a take a few minutes of your time?
BA: I have to get across town for a 3:00 PM showing, but yeah I can answer a couple questions.
Okay great. Where did you attend college?
A better college than 99% of the people reading this.
What classes did you take in order to put yourself in a good position in this industry?
I was a Communications Major.
So what does that have to do with getting into the Real Estate industry?
Just think about it.
Okay, what Brokerage do you work for?
What difference does it make? I have not brought in a single commission check all year.
So why did you “choose” the real estate industry?
I have always had an outstanding passion for the history and development of architecture in home building. Also, I enjoy nothing more than the social dynamic of negotiation. I receive ultimate fulfillment by providing my clients with a concierge-like service that always results in their happiness and satisfaction.
It is great to be in a business you are so passionate about. How many homes did you sell last year?
I sold zero homes last year.
What books have you read to stay motivated?
The only two books I have read recreationally since my summer reading requirements are A Million Dollar Real Estate Agent and Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets.
A lot of agents have cited that book as a valuable source to their success. What did you take away from it?
That it is impossible to negotiate with a Muggle.
What do you eat to stay in shape?
Fat Commission checks.
What is the first thing you notice about people when you meet them?
What is an interesting fact about yourself?
I once sold a house back to the owner for above asking.
You mean you sold a house back to the person who was selling it for more money than it was listed for? Is that even possible?
Like I said, nothing provides me with more satisfaction than helping my clients.
Describe Yourself in 3 Words.
Do you ever wish you were someone else?
Leonardo Dicaprio, Mark Zuckerberg, Derek Jeter, and Louis CK. But, I already feel like I am a slight combination of all four in some way.
One more question because I know you are on a time constraint. Is there some sort of quote that you like to live by?
Yeah, “I’m late for my 3 O’clock.”
